Our services are highly tailored to the needs of our patients to ensure we provide high quality and consistent support during times of uncertainty.
Here are our key “projects” that are vital to those we support all year round and which we have to fund for us to be able to provide for islanders:
• Our monthly ‘brainy buddies’ support group is advertised regularly through the local media. It’s designed to extend the reach of the current support offered and promotes empowerment and independence through facilitating shared experiences and peer support for patients, families and friends. It’s friendly, informal and inclusive with a key speaker provided from other agencies or areas of interest.
• Our 24/7 free phone line & website offers round the clock support to patients, carers, families and the wider community.
• Specialist face-to-face emotional and practical support ensures our patients’ needs are met and enables us to sign-post to other agencies if necessary.
• Providing critical financial support to meet the diverse needs of our patients. This varies from low level financial assistance through to funding specialist nursing care for a 15 year old patient requiring lifelong care.
Every penny donated goes into our patients support fund and spread out to continue to assist these projects all year round. We also have to cover the costs of running our drop in centre/office in St Helier. This provides a safe and secure place for people to come and talk to us privately and is open Monday - Friday 9:30-5:30pm
We also have ad-hoc projects that are vital for us to promote our services so we can help more islanders who don’t know we are on the island, while we work with the islands health and social services departments so we can make sure we are there from the point of diagnosis.
We are lucky to have support from our corporate sponsors who fundraise and help us in many ways all year round, we are always applying for various grants to help us support other areas of the business and events which allows to use the donations given to us to go directly to the people we are here to support.
We provide support to anyone living in Jersey who has been affected by a brain tumour diagnosis (benign or cancerous), be that patient, family, relative(s) or friend(s) providing them with;
I. Care, support, advice and information – practical, emotional and financial.
II. To support and compliment professional health care services, larger charities and other organisations.
III. To raise awareness and improve information and communicate with patients, clients and other agencies.
IV. Establish and maximise funding streams to ensure the sustainability of the charity in the long term.
We need to raise in the region of £50,000 - £60,000 a year to be able to run the charity alongside our patient support fund which is protected for terminal & emergency help.
As the charity continues to develop and the achievements in our branding and outreach work, we know we will grow even further with the demands of ongoing support for those we help now & in the future.
