Charity Golf day 5th August 2016

The 7th Rotary Club de la Manche charity golf day took place at La Moye golf Club on Friday 5th August which this year was in support of us here at the Jersey Brain Tumour Charity.

The weather was perfect and 18 teams enjoyed a fun packed day of golf followed by a magnificent seafood buffet. The winning team from JT of Daragh McDermott, Richard Summerfield, Adrian Peacock, & Philip Le Sueur won the Rotary de la Manche trophy and a golf bag each.

In second place from Investec were Stephen Rafferty, Jonathan Sheehan, Chris Fosse and David Nolan who each won a pair of golf shoes. Third place went to Advisa who fielded Ian Furness, David Steigenberger, Paul Frankland &Graeme Furguson and they each won a golf jacket.

Nearest the Pin for the ladies was won by Ann Yvon of the HSBC Bank team and the men’s competition by Mark Healey from Taylormade.

The raffle raised £1400, 5 auction lots including a round of golf for 4 people donated by La Moye, a case of year 2000 Chateau Brown and a Penny Black stamp donated by Stanley Gibbons raised £1222. A beat the pro competition raised a further £305 for the charity.

Rotary are still counting the money but expect to raise in excess of £8K.

We can’t thank everyone who took part enough, but we have to make a special mention in thanking Wendy Riley who made it all possible and is a credit to not only Rotary but the island as well.

The money and the awareness raised through the event will go a long way to making sure we can continue to give the same level of care and attention to islanders that went into making this event the success it was.

Thank you all again.
